Degradable‑Modified Plastics

Degradable‑modified plastics are generally based on bio‑degradable resins such as polylactic acid (PLA) and polybutylene adipate‑terephthalate (PBAT). Modification and reinforcement are carried out to overcome inherent drawbacks including high brittleness, poor heat resistance and insufficient barrier performance. These materials strike a balance between service performance and environmental friendliness: they possess mechanical strength, ductility and processability comparable to conventional plastics, and can ultimately decompose into carbon dioxide, water and harmless substances via microbial activity or hydrolysis under specific conditions such as compost, soil and marine environments.

Main Applications of Degradable‑Modified Plastics

Packaging Materials: Mainly used for shopping bags, garbage bags, cling films, fresh‑food trays, disposable food containers, beverage cups and food packaging films. They can degrade under composting conditions and effectively reduce white pollution.

Agricultural Sector: Applied for agricultural mulch films, seedling pots, water‑retaining materials and slow‑release carriers for pesticides and fertilizers. They can decompose directly in soil after usage without recycling procedures and mitigate residual pollution in farmland.

Daily‑use Consumer Goods: Widely adopted for disposable tableware (knives, forks, chopsticks, plates and bowls), toys, cosmetic containers, disposable ball‑point pens, various cards, disposable tablecloths and other sundries.

Medical & Hygiene Materials: Manufactured into disposable gloves, protective coveralls, absorbable surgical sutures, syringes and medical‑device housings to meet hygiene and safety requirements in medical scenarios.

Industrial & Special‑purpose Fields: In automotive industry, for interior trims and pile floor mats. In electronics industry, for recyclable green electronic products, low‑dielectric‑constant materials, battery shields and optical‑disc packaging. In textile industry, for waterproof tarpaulins, fabrics and disposable non‑woven articles.
